Libia Dennise Promotes Female Leadership at Women in Power Forum during FIL Guadalajara
Guanajuato Governor Libia Dennise championed female leadership at the 'Women in Power' forum during the Guadalajara International Book Fair, advocating for inclusive public policy.
The Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) served as the setting where the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, reaffirmed her commitment to building a plural and inclusive Mexico. During the Fourth Edition of the “Women in Power: The Course of Mexico” Forum, the state governor emphasized the importance of female representation in public decision-making spaces.
A Forum Charting the Course of Female Leadership in Mexico
The panel “Beyond the Glass Ceiling: Mexico After 2024, Where Power Has a Woman’s Voice” brought together women who have transformed national politics. Among them were Amalia Dolores García Medina, senator and former governor of Zacatecas; Beatriz Paredes Rangel, former governor of Tlaxcala; and Indira Vizcaíno Silva, governor of Colima. The moderation was led by writer Sabina Berman. This space not only highlighted female leadership but also presented challenges such as promoting public policies with a gender perspective, empathy, and democratic conviction.
Women Breaking Glass Ceilings
Within the fourth edition of the “Women in Power: The Course of Mexico” Forum, Governor Libia Dennise emphasized: “If we can speak today, it is thanks to the struggle of women who broke glass ceilings even before they knew they were doing so.” The
Guanajuato governor stressed that work in public service is also activism for women’s rights. She noted that while progress has been made, much remains to be done to ensure substantive equality and transform realities. This forum became an act of commitment to equity, where power is understood as a tool to serve, listen, and design policies that respond to the needs of women, girls, and historically marginalized communities.
FIL Guadalajara: A Space for Culture and Dialogue
Prior to the forum, the governor toured the FIL, visiting the Ediciones La Rana stand and the Guanajuato Editorial Fund, where writers from Guanajuato exhibit their works.
