Pascual Boing Launches Sugar-Free Beverage: What is its Presence in Querétaro?

Pascual Boing launches a new sugar-free beverage made with 100% natural fruit. The cooperative, with a significant presence in Querétaro, aims to innovate for healthier options amid new fiscal policies.

Pascual Cooperative, with production plants in Querétaro and Hidalgo, announced the market entry of a new sugar-free beverage, made with 100% natural fruit. This initiative comes in response to new health and fiscal policies implementing a tax on sugary drinks. This new beverage will be named “Néctasis” and will be free of warning labels, in addition to containing no preservatives or artificial flavorings.

Furthermore, Pascual Cooperative announced the initiation of an innovation process to reduce the caloric content of all its beverages. The beverages will utilize 100% natural national ingredients, without recourse to artificial sweeteners, colorants, preservatives, or additives.

Pascual Cooperative’s Trajectory in Querétaro

The Pascual Cooperative boasts over half a century of experience in Mexico’s soft drink industry. Its founder, Rafael Víctor Jiménez Zamudio, began in the late 1940s with the production of popsicles, bottled water in large dispensers, and eventually, the Pascual soft drink line.

Two decades later, the company had achieved international recognition and maintained facilities in various parts of Mexico, the United States, and Japan. However, it faced a critical juncture in late March 1982, as despite a government-mandated salary increase of 10%, 20%, and 30%, the owner of

refused to implement this increase.

Following this refusal, workers initiated a strike on May 18, 1982. After incidents including the deaths of two workers and several injuries as part of the movement, an alternative conflict resolution was agreed upon, and the company’s assets were awarded to the workers.

In this manner, it was consolidated as a cooperative system, which to date, employs over four thousand workers. It also maintains two production plants in San Juan del Río, Querétaro, and Tizayuca, Hidalgo.

Annually, Pascual Boing Cooperative produces 20,000 tons of soft drinks and operates with 30 branches nationwide. Furthermore, its products have an impact on the international market, as they are exported to the United States, primarily to the southern region in states such as Texas and California.
