Robotina Comes Home: Are You Ready for the Future?

Robotina Comes Home: Are You Ready for the Future?
Meet the New Neighbors: Optimus, Figure 02, and NEO Beta
Imagine coming home exhausted after an intense day and being greeted by someone with a smile (or at least a tray of coffee). That’s what this new generation of humanoid robots promises, and each has its own style. First, there’s Optimus, Tesla’s flagship project. At their “We, Robot” event in 2024, we saw it serving drinks and moving with a rhythm that makes you want to applaud. Of course, they confessed that some movements were with remote assistance, like when you ask a friend to lend you a hand. Elon Musk says it could cost between $20,000 and $30,000 (about 400,000 to 600,000 Mexican pesos today). We still don’t know when it will hit the stores, but the idea of an assistant who walks the dog or takes care of the children sounds like a luxury many of us would want. Then there’s Figure 02, from Figure AI. This little genius came into the world in August 2024 and is already making waves. With hands that look like they came out of a movie and an AI that learns from its stumbles, it started in factories, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it folding clothes at home soon. It’s already generating revenue in the industry, so its leap into the home is just around the corner.
And finally, NEO Beta from 1X Technologies, the most home-friendly of all. This robot is designed to be your safe and reliable companion, and they are already testing it in real homes. They haven’t said how much it will cost, but since they are manufacturing it en masse in Norway, it seems they want it to be an accessible friend for more families.
The Market Is Red Hot: What’s Happening?
The world of domestic robots is growing at an impressive rate. According to Future Market Insights, this market could reach $96 billion by 2034, with a growth of 20.6% per year. What’s driving it? I’ll tell you quickly:
- **A Little Bit of Everything:** They are no longer just vacuum cleaners spinning around the room; now we are talking about robots that clean, care, and even chat with you.
- **Connected Homes:** They get along wonderfully with Alexa or Google Home, as if they were technological cousins.
- **Taking Care of Our Loved Ones:** With more older adults in Mexico and the world, these robots could be an invaluable support.
China is leading the way with 50% of the market, but here in Latin America there is room to shine. Imagine Mexican factories assembling these robots, or entrepreneurs offering maintenance services, doesn’t it excite you to think about it?
How Much Does It Cost to Have a Robotina at Home?
If you’ve already taken out your cell phone to calculate, here it goes: basic robots, like those Roomba vacuum cleaners that seem to have a life of their own, range from a few hundred to thousands of pesos. But humanoids like Optimus or NEO Beta are another level. Musk estimates that Optimus could be around 400,000 to 600,000 pesos, and although Figure 02 and NEO Beta have not revealed anything, their mass production suggests that prices will decrease over time. The most incredible thing is that, according to experts, by 2033 these robots could do 39% of household chores. That’s real help!
What If Robotina Watches over Your Business?
It’s not all about home; these robots could also change how you manage costs in your company. For example, in security: today, a guard costs about 8,000 pesos per month. For three shifts, 24/7, that’s 24,000 pesos per month. Now, think of a security robot: with an initial cost of 600,000 pesos, a lifespan of 10 years, and maintenance of 30,000 pesos per year, it costs about 7,500 pesos per month. That’s a savings of 16,500 pesos per month. It’s not about leaving people out, but about reimagining how we use technology to be more efficient. Can you imagine robots guarding warehouses, hotels, or clinics? This could be a watershed moment for your business.
This is where things get interesting. If you are in technology, manufacturing, or services, this boom is a potential gold mine. You could distribute these robots, create apps that make them even more useful, or train experts to keep them running. Think of hotels with robotic receptionists that surprise your guests, or clinics with assistants for grandparents. In Mexico, where it sometimes costs us to get started with innovation, being among the first to jump on this train could help us get ahead.
The Future Is Calling
The days when Robotina was just a cartoon are long gone. Tesla, Figure AI, and 1X Technologies are making robots a part of our lives, and although their price may seem like a distant dream today, technology always finds a way to get closer to us. This is not just a curiosity to chat about at the table; it is an opportunity for you to think big. How could a robot change your business or your daily life? The revolution has already begun, and you decide whether you open the door or stay looking from the window. Do you dare to be a part of this? We’ll continue reading each other in Líder Empresarial to keep you up to date with what’s coming.
P.S.: A Glimpse into the Horizon with Quantum Computing and AI While robots like Optimus and NEO Beta come into our lives, there is something bigger cooking: quantum computing and AI are joining forces. Imagine this: Microsoft’s Majorana 1 chip, launched a few days ago (February 19, 2025), promises super stable qubits that could make robots think faster and solve impossible problems, such as designing new materials or improving their autonomy. And AI, with advances such as algorithms that learn on their own, could give these robots a more agile “mind”. If this takes off, we will not only have Robotina cleaning the house, but robots in your company optimizing processes in record time. The impact is just beginning, and the future sounds exciting! “,2025-02-24 12:55:37,
