States with the Highest Growth in Economic Activity
The Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE) reveals which states are driving economic growth and identifying key sectors.
The performance of each federative entity offers key insights into the direction of growth, where opportunities lie, and which sectors are setting the pace. In this regard, the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE), prepared by INEGI, serves as an indispensable compass for understanding regional economic evolution.
According to results for the third quarter of 2025, the ITAEE reveals that while some entities are consolidating their productive dynamism, others are facing adjustments and decelerations. The analysis, using seasonally adjusted and original figures, allows for the identification of states with the highest growth in economic activity, as well as the sectors driving their performance.
The ITAEE is a short-term indicator that displays the evolution of economic activity in each federative entity. It integrates preliminary information from the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors, making it a key tool for entrepreneurs, investors, and public decision-makers.
Furthermore, the ITAEE functions as a regional economic thermometer, allowing for the identification of growth or contraction trends. Moreover, it reflects the impact of strategic sectors such as
, services, and trade, while helping to anticipate investment opportunities and economic risks at the state level.
States with the Highest Quarterly Growth in Economic Activity
With seasonally adjusted figures, the third quarter of 2025 showed a significant rebound in several entities. On a quarterly basis, the highest growth rates were concentrated in states with emerging economies or specific expanding sectors.
The states with the best quarterly performance were:
- Tlaxcala: 2.8% growth, the highest in the country during the period.
- Zacatecas: 2.7% increase, driven by industrial and services activities.
- San Luis Potosí: 1.7% increase, supported by its manufacturing strength.
- Veracruz: 1.4% growth, showing signs of recovery in key sectors.
- Colima and Yucatán: both with a 1.3% advance, notable for their regional dynamism.
This performance suggests that, beyond traditional large economic hubs, medium and small entities are gaining prominence on the national economic map.
Annual Growth: Entities Consolidating Their Dynamism
Upon analyzing the annual variation, the panorama shifts slightly, allowing for the identification of states that not only grew quarterly but also maintained a positive trend compared to the same period of the previous year.
The entities with the highest annual advances were:
- Baja California Sur: 4.3%
- Colima: 3.8%
- San Luis Potosí: 3.5%
- Guerrero: 3.4%
- Tamaulipas: 3.1%
Economic Snapshot: Contrasts in Economic Performance
The ITAEE also reveals that not all entities progress at the same pace. While some reported moderate or stable growth, others faced quarterly or annual declines.
Among the states with the weakest annual performances, the following stand out:
- Campeche: -11.7%
- Quintana Roo: -7.3%
- Oaxaca: -5.4%
- Tabasco: -4.7%
- Durango: -3.8%
