Tension Escalates Between the United States and Venezuela: Sheinbaum's Call for Action

Tension between the United States and Venezuela escalated this Tuesday following a decision announced by US President Donald Trump, which reconfigures the regional geopolitical landscape and triggers diplomatic alerts across Latin America. The US president stated that his country would not allow a “hostile regime” to maintain control of assets that, in his view, were stolen or must be returned. His discourse included a military warning. “Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Navy ever assembled in the history of South America,” Trump declared. He added that pressure would increase until “all oil, lands, and other assets” are recovered.

Venezuela Responds to the United States

The Venezuelan government’s reaction was swift. Nicolás Maduro described the actions of
