Revenue and Assets of the Construction Sector in Aguascalientes During 2024: INEGI
INEGI data reveals Aguascalientes' 2024 construction sector performance, detailing labor, production value, revenue, expenses, and asset trends, with a comparison to the broader Bajío region.
Aguascalientes recorded diverse variations in its construction sector during 2024, according to state data published in the Annual Survey of Construction Companies (EAEC) 2024 by INEGI. This set of variables reflects changes stemming from the behavior of productive supply and the material and labor resources operating within the state.
Labor Activity and Production in the State Industry
The construction sector in Aguascalientes employed 7,151 people in 2024, comprising 5,851 men and 1,300 women. These figures illustrate the labor structure supporting local projects. Furthermore, women contributed 3 million working hours during 2024, while men accounted for 15 million hours in the same period.
The state registered a production value of 7,527 million pesos in 2024, a decrease compared to 2023, when it reached 9,732 million pesos. This data point is part of the sector’s overall performance, which encompasses building and civil engineering projects across the state.
Revenue, Expenses, and Assets in the Aguascalientes Sector
Aguascalientes reported 9,344 million pesos in total revenue during 2024, a figure that remained close to the 9,542 million achieved in 2023. This revenue level demonstrates the capacity of companies to secure resources derived from project execution and the provision of related services.
Total expenses for local companies amounted to 5,395 million pesos in 2024, after registering 5,678 million pesos in 2023. Construction materials constituted a significant portion of operating consumption, according to the national distribution reported by the EAEC.
The fixed asset inventory in the state reached 4,684 million pesos during 2024, a slight increase from the previous year, when 4,586 million pesos were recorded. Construction machinery and equipment ranked first in asset value nationwide, a trend also observed at the state level.
Comparison with the Bajío Region
The Bajío region exhibited diverse performance across its states, offering a frame of reference for Aguascalientes.
Jalisco, considered part of the broader Bajío, reported 50,727 million pesos in revenue, the highest amount among the states in the area. Thus, Aguascalientes’ revenue was lower than the values observed in neighboring states with larger industrial and territorial scales. Jalisco’s production value also surpassed the state figure, a condition that highlights differences between productive structures of varying sizes.
Regarding expenses, the Bajío reflected higher amounts in its principal states. Guanajuato reported 16,815 million pesos, while Querétaro accumulated 12,854 million pesos. San Luis Potosí registered 11,982 million pesos in fixed assets, according to state figures. Companies in Jalisco accounted for 15,626 million pesos in assets for 2024, an amount exceeding that recorded in Aguascalientes.
The data set reveals distinct positions within the Bajío. Aguascalientes maintains lower revenues compared to Guanajuato, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Jalisco, although it retains an active productive structure. The state also registered expenses and assets that are below regional levels, as observed in comparison with states that concentrate a larger industrial volume. Nevertheless, this information positions Aguascalientes within a regional network where each entity contributes specific segments of public and private construction projects.
