On the evening of Monday, December 8, from their respective official X accounts,
and José Medina Mora Icaza confirmed a key leadership transition for Mexico’s business elite. Effective December 10, Medina Mora will become the new president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE). “I received José Medina Mora Icaza at Palacio Nacional, who, effective December 10, will serve as president of the Business Coordinating Council,” the President published. In response, the business leader highlighted the alignment of objectives and the spirit of collaboration with the federal government. “I appreciate the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the President for the good of Mexico. We share the same objectives of promoting investment and achieving a favorable outcome for Mexico in the #USMCA negotiation,” he wrote. José Medina Mora Icaza graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana. His academic career includes two master’s degrees: one in Engineering Sciences—specializing in Systems—and another in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance, in addition to a professional doctorate in Engineering Project Management, all from Stanford University. He also holds a master’s degree from Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara campus. Medina Mora is also the founder and Chairman of the Board of CompuSoluciones, a wholesale integrator of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions.

His business leadership was recognized by Expansión magazine, which included him among Mexico’s 100 most important business leaders in 2007, while Ernst & Young named him “Entrepreneur of the Year” in the Information Technology sector. Additionally, he has received accolades from Endeavor Occidente, IPADE—through “Dejando Huella”—and the Carlos María Abascal Carranza Foundation, which recognized him as a business leader with a humanist approach. Prior to his new appointment, Medina Mora served as the national president of the Mexican Employers’ Confederation (Coparmex), having held various local, regional, and national positions within the organization. He was unanimously elected for the 2021–2022 biennium. Furthermore, he serves on the boards of companies, universities, and charitable institutions, and is a member of the Advisory Board for Nafin and Citibanamex. He also acts as a visiting professor at IPADE.
